2019 Firefighter of the Year
What a great meeting today!  This year's recipient of the Firefighter of the Year award was Jim Terrero.  Jim Terrero and his family immigrated here from the Dominican Republic in 2000, Jim was just 10 years old and spoke no English.  He is a graduate from Manchester Central High School class of 2009.  Jim has been a Fire Fighter with the Manchester Fire Department since August 2015.   
FF Terrero has demonstrated countless times his compassion and commitment to coaching, mentoring and supporting Manchester’s inner city youth.  His  community volunteering consists of:
  • Assistant Coach Central High School Football 2009-present
  • Salvation Army Summer Program for Kids 2013-present
  • Bring it Program, Hillside Junior High School 2010-Present
  • Nick Carey Annual 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament ages 8 - 25
  • Individual peer mentoring
  • Manchester 5thGrade Junior Fire Muster Beech Street School/Webster School
 
Riverwalk Spring Clean Up
Sign up with our Community Service  Committee to join the Spring cleaning crew at Riverwalk.  April 27th is the scheduled clean up date coordinated with the City Parks & Rec. Dept.  See Frank DiDonato or Natalie Jutras for sign ups.
Todays raffle winner was Mike Swinford with winnings of $20.  The big pot continues to grow at $648.
 
Comedy Bowl After Party
A huge thank you to Kim & Mike Griswold for opening up Chez Griz to our club on Friday night!  We had a fun time, with tons of food, and plenty of libations to go around.  Thank you Kim & Mike Griswold!
 
Easter Bunny's are Coming!
Erik Lesniak announced that he will be collecting orders next week for chocolate & white chocolate Easter bunnies for the Salvation Army to benefit Kids Cafe.  The bunnies are being sold for $8.50 each.

Waypoint's Runaway and Homeless Youth Continuum

Our speaker on March 14th will be the director of this program and we'd love to be able to give her a big bag of stuff!  Thank you for the donations that were brought in today.  We will continue to collect next week as well.  Here's a list of sample items to donate:

Food Items:

  • Granola bars
  • fruit cups 
  • protein bars
  • peanut butter crackers
  • packaged nuts
  • trail mix
  • tuna snack kits
  • Individually packed pretzels, goldfish
  • small or boxed juices
  • Oatmeal
  • canned/jars of fruit (pop top lids are best)
  • beef jerky

Hygiene Items:

  • Conditioner

  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
